"When I called my doctor about an urgent need, his receptionist hung up on me twice, leaving me feeling isolated, frustrated and frightened."

The Listening Equity Project is a SPACE initiative funded by Disability Alliance BC and the Province of British Columbia.

Through this project, we'll work to make service providers more accessible for people who stutter and others with communication disabilities.

Over the next year, we’ll work with community-serving organizations in the Lower Mainland to deliver training sessions, pilot practical tools, and support staffing to strengthen equitable listening practices.

Together, these efforts aim to transform everyday interactions and improve how services across our communities respond to people with diverse communication needs.
